Loyalty is one thing that every believer and ministry that hopes to stand against the tides must build.
Evidently, you cannot be on the fence as a believer, you must be loyal to something.
It’s ingrained in you to want to be regarded as significant and trustworthy by other people.
We are also endowed with a strong desire to conduct loyal lives and to pledge devotion to people we believe deserve it.
Principles Of Loyalty Explored
This article will explore the various principles of loyalty
“ A helper doesn’t help by expressing to others his disagreements with the leader” Dr. Rick Flanders
It is not your place to be critical of the authority that God has established within His Body.
Even though you could know of a superior approach, your current position is supporting.
You may even be perceptive enough to have a valid opinion on these issues, but that doesn’t give you the right to voice it in public.
Let alone speak against them.
What Loyalty Entails
1.Loyalty Is On The Basis Of Accurate Revelation
Revelation means unveiling, to make known something previously hidden.
Moreover, the scripture in Luke.24.31 says “ And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight”
Meaning that without the opening or unveiling of their eyes they would never have known it was Jesus.
Evidently, a person you don’t have revelations and convictions about, you cannot be fully loyal to-Matt.16:16
Suffice it to say then, that revelation is an important bedrock in building loyalty.
Finally, you can’t be loyal to who you don’t know experientially.
2. In Loyalty, You Choose Or Take Your Stand
Another thing to note, is that in loyalty you must take your stand, there is nothing like sitting on the fence
In fact, sitting on the fence is attributed to the sin of rebellion, you can’t serve two masters at the same time.
1Kgs.18.21 “And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions?
If the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word”
Also, as a believer there is nothing like I want to test both sides, God is not an author of confusion.
You have to make the decision to pledge your allegiance to God and stand by it at all cost.
Furthermore, taking your stand doesn’t suddenly mean that things will sail smoothly, time will test your loyalty of what sort it is.
Exod.32.26 “Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD’S side? let him come unto me.
Finally, the Lord’s side is always and will always be the side you should take as a believer.
3. Loyalty Demands That You Sieve What You Hear
Mark.4.24 “And he said unto them, Take heed what ye hear:
There is no man who intends to be loyal who gives himself over to itching ears.
The ears just like the tongue are unruly so we need to sieve what we hear.
Consequently, you must discipline yourself to be selective of what you hear in order to grow and remain loyal.
This is an intentional act, note something you do on the spur of the moment.
In fact, as a believer if you do not sieve what you hear, you might end up full of offense on matters that God is not even that concerned about per say.
Lastly, you can never hope to be loyal to a man, to God, or even to a cause if you don’t sieve what you hear.
Consciously make the decision that it is only what God is saying on a particular matter that your ears will hear and thrash the rest.
4. Loyalty Is A Defense And Support
Exod.17.12 “But Moses’ hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon;
And Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady”
The defense and support true loyalty brings is always undeniable.
In fact, one of the greatest blessings God will give a man are loyal sons, loyal friends, loyal wife, loyal husband even loyal brothers.
A man who doesn’t have people loyal to him is missing it somewhere because loyalty attracts loyalty.
It is the law of causes and effect that all things being equal a loyal man will have loyal sons too.
Notably, David was able to survive his trying times and seasons because of the loyal men he had.
God has made sure in His Body that the means of preservation and defense of loyal men are loyal sons.
2Sam.21.16 “And Ishbibenob, which was of the sons of the giant, thought to have slain David.
But Abishai the son of Zeruiah succored him, and smote the Philistine”
5. Loyalty Will Be Tested
Without a doubt, your loyalty must be tested as a believer whether to Christ or to who you are submitted to.
The scripture says in Ps.105.19 “ Until the time that his word came: the word of the LORD tried him.
The same for every believer, the earlier you understand that your loyalty will be tried the better you ask God for help.
Finally, anything that is of eternal value will be tried to know what sort it is.
Conclusion
In conclusion, loyalty demands you pray, pray and pray again.
It is also almost impossible to gossip about the people for whom we pray!
For prayer is a great deterrent— Leonard Ravenhill.
Remember that the principle of loyalty makes us understand that loyalty is on the basis of revelation,
that you don’t sit on the fence or give yourself over to itching ears. Loyalty is a matter of the heart.
May God bring us to the reality and revelation of what true kingdom loyalty is.
