Spreading the light of Christ is one of the greatest proofs that you are a believer.
It points to the fact that the government of Christ has now found full expression through you.
In Jesus Christ’s “Sermon on the Mount,” He spoke about the believer as both the light and salt of the earth.
Invariably, spreading the light of Christ is not in isolation, it means that you must be first of all a light.
You cannot shine if you are not, no one can give what he doesn’t have.
Meaning the more the light the more the spreading of Christ.
Spreading The Light Of Christ Explored

The definition of “light,” which comes from the Greek word Phos, is “to shine or make manifest, the light, brightness.”
In a world where darkness frequently seeks to muddle the benefits of light,
believers are being urged to get up and serve as rays of hope and light.
Because it is how the gospel of Christ and His essence may truly be preached.
Consequently, it is your solemn obligation as Christ’s disciples to change the world for Him.
Sharing the gospel’s life-changing message with everyone you encounter and illuminating every nook and cranny.
That’s why, this article examines the great honor and duty of illuminating the darkness and spreading of the light of Christ.
1. The Call to Shine
As a Christian, you have been given the same ability as Jesus to shine your light brightly through the dark.
You are merely a conduit for expression, thus the light you have received does not does not necessarily come from you.
It came from the Father to Jesus, who gave it to you as well.
For this reason, believers are constantly urged by the Scriptures to shine brightly in a world that is dominated by evil.
Because, Jesus Himself declared in Matthew 5:14-16, “You are the light of the world.
Lastly, the call to shine by spreading the light of Christ is not optional but essential for every follower of Christ.
In other words, when you get right with God and are filled with the Holy Spirit, He will simply shine through you.
2. Walking in love and compassion
Being an example of Christ’s love and compassion is the first step in changing the world.
As a Christian without compassion, how would you be able to share the gospel?
Actually, Christ came into the world because of love and compassion,
and if you consider yourself to be one of His disciples, you should demonstrate this.
Furthermore, you are expected to reach out to the lost, the broken,
and the disenfranchised in the same way that Jesus did.
1 John 4:7-8 reminds us, ” Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God.”
So, by demonstrating love and compassion, you not only reflect the heart of God but also help in spreading the light of Christ to those around.
3. Being a bold witness
The gospel is the power of God unto salvation (Romans 1:16), and sharing it is at the core of your mission as a believer.
One of the ways you help in spreading the light of Christ is sharing the gospel.
If it was handed down to your fathers and then to you then it behoves you to hand it down too.
Therefore, whether it can be through verbal proclamation, acts of service, or living out your faith authentically.
Lastly, just as the apostle Paul urged in 2 Timothy 4:2, “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season”
So you have to make sure that the gospel handed down to you doesn’t end with you.
How to Be the Light of the World

1. Tell of your faith in Christ
There is no believer who intends to be a participant of those sharing the light of Christ without talking about his faith.
The scripture in Acts 2:37 says “ When the people heard this, they were cut to
the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?”
God utilizes common people to reach out to those in need of His message.
As a result, you are sharing His light when you share your faith.
Don’t be ashamed to bring your Bible to work or conceal your testimony;
one of the main reasons you were saved was so that you would shine.
Don’t be scared to show others your love for the Lord Jesus by praying during your lunch break at work or school.
If anything, be completely bold and unapologetic about your faith.
2. Take Light Where It’s Dark
God expects that you take the light of the gospel and spread it in areas where it is dark.
The scripture speaking says “no man lights a candle and puts it under a bushel”
It seems as if the world is waiting for believers and that anytime any believer fails to shine,
then the hope of taking the light is defeated.
So then, that means you must get beyond the church walls and take the light out to where it is dark.
4. Prayer and Dependence on the Holy Spirit
In spreading of the light of Christ prayer and dependence on the Holyspirit is non-negotiable.
So, impacting the world for Christ is not solely reliant on your efforts but on the power of the Holy Spirit working through you.
Prayer is your lifeline to God, enabling you to discern His will and receive divine guidance and empowerment.
In fact, the essence of spreading the light of Christ is hinging on the fact that one must receive strength and enabling of the HolyGhost.
Ephesians 6:18 encourages us to “pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.”
Conclusion
Let us be reminded of Christ’s commission to go and make disciples
of all nations as we consider the great privilege of changing the world for Him (Matthew 28:19).
May we live in obedience, letting the Holy Spirit work through us to accomplish His goals,
expressing His love openly, and shining our light.
May we live as examples of the gospel’s transformative power,
bringing the hope that comes only from Jesus Christ to the world. IJN
