Current events have effects on the day to day living of the believer.
In fact, these events if not handled well will invariably affect the believer and his walk with God.
The world is filled with alot of social media updates, news events and most times as a believer you might find it challenging discerning how to interpret these events.
That’s why, as a believer you must know that our world view should be from the lens of Christ.
Current Events through a Christian Lens
Being a believer is not just about going to church on Sunday, is going to church wrong of course not.
The point is that it is beyond the church, the scripture speaking in 1st Timothy 3:15 defined the church
“As the ground and pillar of truth”, meaning that the church should mirror the exact truth and mind of God on a matter.
It shapes the way you perceive current events and supplies you with the wisdom to navigate it’s challanges.
Moreover, the scripture is the believers guidebook, that brings accurate and specific directions on such current events.
Lastly, there is a way God expects you to respond to events, social norms and information flying around the media.
This blog article will explore a few issues through the lens of Christ.
1.The Sacredness Of Life
Life has and will always be sacred, when I say sacred I mean that it is unique and extraordinary.
Made by God to serve a purpose for His eternal plans, meaning that man was set apart from every other of God’s creation for a higher purpose.
That’s why, one of the crucial teachings in Christianity is the sanctity of life.
So current events, like this viewed by the lens of the scripture is paramount otherwise you will misconstrue it.
Man is created in the very image of God according to the scriptures in Genesis 1:27
Furthermore, man let alone a believer does not have the right to take his life
Life’s challenges might come heavy and very overwhelming,
and sometimes it seems as if there is no light at the end of the tunnel.
Under depression one considers the thought of taking his life or even attempts it.
You have so much to say and like Elihu your vent wants to burst.
And you assay to be calm, and it seems the whole earth will crumble, yet that’s still not a reason to die.
There is really no justifyable reason to take your life or someone’s
neither do laws that support such stem from the scripture, if you are a believer as much as natural laws are important
There is such a thing as higher laws, if the scripture says “thou shall not kill”, it means it 💯
Whether literal killing, action killing, word killing or whatever you think.
For example, whether it is “Euthanasia” which is the practice of intentionally ending someone’s life to relieve pain and suffering.
This is typical in cases of terminal illness or severe physical or mental pain that cannot be alleviated through other means.
It is still not scripturally acceptable, anyone who cannot make life should not take it.
Lastly, God is counting on you as a believer to bring clear biblical perspective on such current events.
Are you the Messiah that will do that, or will God still be crying “ I am looking for a man” Sellah.
2. Compassion and Justice
Compassion and justice is one of the hallmark of the believer,
Meaning that if you want to know what compassion and justice looks like, you look at the church.
You take a gleen at Jesus, it will behove you to know that
Any seeming “good” you do that removes or reduces Christ is mere philanthropy.
Compassion comes from the bowel of encounter, so the more you are confirmed to Christ,
The more you can show true compassion and see how He sees.
Furthermore, the ministry of Jesus while He was on was marked by compassion.
Mathew 20:34 “ So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eye”
Compassion is not just about showing pity or sympathising with people’s circumstances or situations.
In its true sense, compassion involves showing empathy and as well having what it takes to bring solution.
That’s why, you cannot be a normal believer, God is counting on you to not only give advice but also have what it takes to help them.
If so be it then, like the scripture says that “for we have not so learned Christ” then justice and compassion is not left out.
Lastly, as believers, God calls you to champion practices that promote justice and fairness.
PS: Compassion is not necessarily giving things, giving is a hallmark of compassion
3). Fulfilment Of Prophecy
It is worthy of note, that some of the current events you see as a believer
Is a fulfilment of the prophecy captured in the word of God, you can’t really pray them away.
You can only prepare yourself and be equipped to stand.
Mathew 24:12 “And because lawlessness will abound, the love of many will grow cold”
So, when you see or hear these abominable things, these current events
Your focus should not necessarily be on them, but what God said the believer should do in order to overcome.
You are seeing it from the lens of biblical interpretation not soulish enthusiasm.
The scripture speaking said “ let your eye be single” that singleness of your eye is what brings accurate biblical perspective.
Finally, these current events are signs of the end of days, don’t expect it to change or become better.
Prepare yourself to outlast and be among the overcomers whom the book of Revelation described.
Conclusion
Navigating current events through a Christian lens requires discernment and commitment.
Your responses has to be grounded in the teachings of Jesus Christ and biblical principles.
So, interpreting current events through a Christian lens involves more than just applying a set of rules
It entails deep understanding of God’s heart and will for humanity.
May these words guide you as you strive to live out your faith in an ever-changing world. In Jesus name, Amen
