The implication of Jesus’ death on the cross for man cannot be overestimated.
As captured in prophecy in the old testament, there was a saviour that was to come,
who will save mankind from their sins and restore them back to fellowship with God.
Matthew 1:21 “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS:
for He shall save his people from their sins”
However, the way Jesus could fulfill this prophecy was by his death on the cross.
At the cross, the highest price for our sins was paid in full by Jesus.
THE IMPLICATION OF JESUS’ DEATH ON THE CROSS FOR MAN EXPLAINED
Paying the price for our sins was the ultimate requirement for man to be redeemed
Consequently, Jesus knew what He would go through
So, when even in the garden of Gethsemane He cried for the cup to pass over God had to strengthen Him
So he was able to submit to God’s will, even if the pain and agony of what was to face Him was much.
That’s why any believer who understands this or what it cost God
Will not fold his hands and watch people make light of this heavy eternal sacrifice.
Suffice it to say then, that’s why Peter could die, Stephen, Martin Luther, many of them could.
It seemed they had a compelling revelation of the price of Jesus on the cross
In fact, the moment a believer or the Body of Christ begins to water down
This heavy price, dearth and death creeps into the Body steadily
The understanding of what it cost the whole of heaven will help you to appreciate His sacrifice.
And help you to enter fully into the provisions that have been made available to man
Therefore, in this article we would be looking at 5 implications of Jesus’ death on the cross for man.
5 Implications Of Jesus’s Death
1. By His death man sins was paid for
2 Corinthians 5:21 “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin;
that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
So, the law even as good as it was couldn’t achieve much in and with man because
the claims of divine justice had to be satisfied not by an innocent blood
Otherwise, probably Abel’s blood could have, but the demand was a righteous blood
So, Jesus became the propitiation for us, “once for all”
Hebrews 7:25 “Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him”
For without the highest price paid by Jesus in His death and resurrection
man is still eternally doomed, but glory to God! Jesus reigns!
And is sat down at the right hand of the Father making intercessions for us.
2. By His death sickness and diseases were paid for
Isaiah 53:5 “ He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
In Christ, our sickness and diseases are done away with.
He bore it for us on the cross once for all. Not so we bear it again but so we appropriate it
Therefore, as a believer, we walk in divine health, not necessarily because of anything we did
But on the basis of the finished works of Christ.
Sometimes, even as believers we find it difficult to believe that Jesus took care of sicknesses
Somehow, we feel if we do this or that it kind of qualifies us, or gives us advantage over others
But the requirement for appropriation can’t change because of anyone
If you believe, you can appropriate not necessarily work in this sense
Of course when work is demanded too, even God can’t shift His demand
If you don’t work, if you like cry from now till tomorrow nothing will shift.
Lastly, Jesus’ death took care of whatever infirmity or sickness, I mean whatever
3. By His death man received forgiveness
Ephesians 1:7 “In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins”
Another implication of the death of Jesus on the cross for man,
was that it brought about the forgiveness of sins.
As man’s sin was remitted, God was just in forgiving man
Consequently, as long as the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross is concerned
Man can only receive forgiveness if his sins has been remitted,
because forgiveness is what necessitates peace with God
Romans 5:1 “Therefore being justified by faith,
we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”
Lastly, the blood of Jesus was the perfect and lasting price to pay for the sins of man.
Even God looked at it and was satisfied.
4. By His death man share in His life
John 10:10 “ I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”
Jesus, by His death on the cross for man, gave man His life and died in man’s stead.
However, the life He gave man is His own very life, the eternal life of God.
2 Timothy 2:11 “It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also “live” with him”
We are passed on from death unto life and made alive by this life.
5. By His death man share In His glory
John 17:22 “And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them”
Jesus bore our shame by His death on the cross for us, that we might share in His glory.
Even when, the soldiers mocked Him, stripped Him naked,
spat on Him and casted lots on His garment.
Yet He endured it all for our sake.
It then behooves us, to note that as a believer who also wants to share in the glory of Christ
That we must of a necessity be led through the path Jesus was led through
Invariably, it is most times not pleasant or appealing at all
It is the path of constant death, and death again and death again
That’s the only way for glory to come out, the cross furnishes that.
I’ve not seen a man walking in the experience of Christ’s glory that it just landed on his laps
Everyman must bear his cross if you like to be the one that rests on the bossom of Jesus.
The closer you are, the heavier your cross till Jesus gets His glory in you.
Conclusion
what a man doesn’t know he can’t appropriate
And what he can’t appropriate, he can’t benefit from even if it’s right in front of him.
Nevertheless, ignorance is not an excuse because as you don’t know God always leaves a witness of those who not only know
But are taking full advantage of it irrespective of the odds against them.
So, man’s response to all Jesus has done is to access it by Faith. The access point is by believing.
May God help us to continually walk in the reality of that which Jesus’ death on the cross made available for us in Jesus name.
