Basic christian doctrine is something every believer must be armed with.

In fact, any believer who is not grounded on the basics of these doctrines has a skewered growth.

That’s is if he or she is even growing at all, these doctrines are life.

Moreover, what defense do you have for your “faith” if you are clueless about doctrines.

Suffice it to say then that you will be a believer tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine.

Basic Christian Doctrines Explored

Basic Christian doctrines for the believer are the core beliefs that shape christian living and practice.

It is very evident, that Christ wants everyone 

His body inclusive to not only be knowledgeable about this but give themselves to it.

It is important that we note just as has been said that “doctrine divides” but then irrespective of that,

There are certain doctrines that are essential and must be held uniformly by believers.

So, this article brings an overview of some fundamental/essential Christian doctrines, and their implications for believers.

1. The Doctrine of the Trinity

It is called doctrine because it is what holds sway for every believer irrespective of his or her local assembly

It is worthy of note that at the heart of Christian belief is the doctrine of the Trinity. 

This doctrine asserts that God exists as three persons in one essence

God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. 

It doesn’t matter what you think or from what school of thought you belong to

The doctrine of the Trinity is unarguable, it emphasizes that each person of the Trinity is fully and equally God.

Finally, the understanding of this doctrine will shape and give bearing to your walk with God.

Ephesians 4:4-6 “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 

one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all” 

2. The Doctrine of Creation

This is another important doctrine the believer needs to know

Creation didn’t just exist neither did the world come as a result of the big bang theory as some posit

God is the source/origin of all things including creation visible and invisible.

Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth”

Man didn’t evolve from apes to Homo sapiens or whatever biology says, it’s a delusion to think so

Most definitely, satan always wants us to live in delusions, 

because the more deluded we are, the farther we are from light.

Creation didn’t just exist, God created every bit of it, therefore you are an end product of God’s creation.

Hebrews 11:3 “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, 

so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear”

From the above scripture, it takes faith for one to believe that the world didn’t just appear

That faith is what substantiates it into a reality for you, even though you weren’t there.

In fact, it takes a man in God to accurately trace the origin and source of creation 

Finally, the doctrine of creation captures the inherent value of the world and human life

And that everything has a divine purpose all fitting in God’s divine orchestra.

3. The Doctrine of the Fall

Genesis 3:22 “And the LORD God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: 

and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever”

The fall of man has been the greatest heavy hit to affect man, the ripple effect was unimaginable.

The doctrine of the Fall addresses the introduction of sin into the human experience. 

When Adam and Eve rebelled against God in the garden of Eden by going against His instructions.

The consequent effect was that God was withdrawn from them and man lost his original position.

Therefore, leading to a fundamental rupture in their relationship with God. 

This is what introduced sin and suffering into the earth.

And necessitated the need for man’s redemption and God’s plan in redeeming man.

The Fall of man Introduced two kinds of death into the world. 

Spiritual death/banishment from the presence of the Lord as well as temporal death.

Furthermore, this doctrine explains the human condition and the need for redemption

It goes ahead as well to show the devastating impact of wrong moral choices on man’s relationship with God 

4. The Doctrine of Salvation

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, 

that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”

It’s obvious that very integral to the Christian faith is the doctrine of salvation.

Indeed, great is the mystery of Godliness, that God became flesh and dwelt amongst us.

When man fell in the garden of Eden, especially from the presence of God the salvific plan

Which was already in motion in eternity was allowed to find expression in time as well.

Therefore, necessitating the need for the redemption of man through the offering of Jesus Christ on the cross.

So, the highest and ultimate price had to be paid by a righteous blood on the cross.

It will behoove us, to note that Jesus through the eternal Spirit offered Himself 

He wasn’t killed or murdered, His life was an offering offered willingly.

Therefore, salvation is designed to be received through faith in Jesus Christ, and repentance from dead works.

Lastly, the doctrine of salvation underscores the transformative power of divine forgiveness and the promise of eternal life.

5. The Doctrine of the Last Things

This is another very important doctrine that gives the believer the confidence to keep pushing

There is always a reward for our labors here in time, it transcends to eternity.

In fact, Apostle Paul speaking in one of his letters to the Corinthian church said

1 Corinthians 15:19 “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable”

This doctrine, is also called the doctrine of eschatology and it deals with final events

Furthermore, this includes beliefs about the Second Coming of Christ, 

the final judgment, and the establishment of God’s eternal kingdom. 

In this, we believe that Jesus will return to judge the living and the dead and as well reward.

Finally, this doctrine offers hope and assurance for us as believers who are living a life of alignment.

knowing confidently that the present world is not the end of the story neither is it the end of life.

Conclusion

Basic Christian Doctrines is not something you should joke about as a believer, you can’t afford to trivialize it.

Understanding these basic Christian doctrines provides a foundation for exploring the Christian faith more deeply. 

Therefore, for newcomers to the faith or those seeking to strengthen their understanding.

These doctrines will continue to inspire and guide believers in their pursuit of a meaningful relationship with God.
