Living a life of gratitude; we live in a broken world that is constantly crying for redemption.
Filled with challenges, uncertainties, and distractions, it can be easy to focus on what we lack rather than what we have.
Do we lack those things, yes we do! But that doesn’t change the fact that gratitude is a must.
It’s a heart posture, no matter what we say it has to be furnished in the heart first.
Sometimes, we’ve even forgotten to say thank you literally but gratitude has become a reality to us.
That even in the way we live our lives, we are mostly concerned about bringing God please because that is our reasonable sacrifice.
A grateful heart like my Father Apostle Edu would say is not first of all about a doing
But about a heart desirous to please God, and yes in gratitude is encapsulated a doing too.
Consequently, living a life of gratitude is not just a response to good things happening in our lives;
It is an attitude of the heart that honors God, strengthens our faith, and brings joy into our daily walk.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Why is Gratitude Important?

Living a life of gratitude is more than just saying “thank you” to God
Should we say thank you, Yes! but gratitude is something that should reflect our trust in His sovereignty and goodness.
That’s why, when we give thanks, we acknowledge that every blessing comes from Him.
James 1:17 reminds us:”Every good and perfect gift is from above,
coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
Our mind drifts back to the things God did, and like David we remember they He picked us from the back of the deserts
And made us an object of splendor, with our heads lifted up by His enduring hands.
When we remember this and more, it builds our faith for the future.
We are not of them that draw back or count slackness because we’ve seen God come through for us in the darkest of nights.
Like our Good Shepherd, He guided us even in the midst of great turmoil until our light broke out like the morning.
And yes, we choose not to forget His benefits!!
Psalm 103:2 says: “Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”
By recalling God’s faithfulness, we develop confidence that He will continue to come
through for us and even if He doesn’t we will still stay at our post.
Giving Thanks: Living a Life of Gratitude

Jesus set an example of gratitude throughout His ministry.
Before feeding the five thousand, He gave thanks.
Even during the Last Supper, knowing He would suffer, He still gave thanks.
As much as circumstances being favourable is good,
I believe gratitude is not based on circumstances alone but first of all on our relationship with God.
I mean just being alive alone is enough, for real living in itself is warfare.
Anyone can be alive but to see people living out their books, it is something to be grateful to God for.
Because most certainly a lot of us would never have come near approximation if they never lived.
That’s why we are confident that each time we will always win!!
Colossians 3:17 says: “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
Lastly, living the life of gratitude is a choice that we make because oftentimes it’s easy to fall into negativity.
But nonetheless, we choose to be grateful!! 🙂
Conclusion
Living a life of gratitude honors God, strengthens our faith, and fills us with joy.
Gratitude transforms our hearts and minds, aligning us with God’s will.
May we live each day with a heart of gratitude, glorifying God in all we do. Amen!
