Walking in your calling with boldness and humility is something that is worked in the life of the believer
Because of course, for every single thing that God does, there is a purpose.
And so, God has called us to play a role or write a chapter in His eternal plans.
But then, there is often the tension between confidence and surrender!
Sometimes we can’t help celebrating ambition and lauding success and so
The idea of walking in boldness and humility at the same time might seem contradictory.
But for the believer, this delicate balance is not only possible—it’s necessary.
The Tension Between Confidence and Surrender

As believers, we are not called to shrink back in fear, nor are we called to exalt ourselves.
When we shrink back in fear, we give less of what God captured and when we exalt ourselves, we overestimate ourselves.
I know right, you might be thinking, let me be quiet and be in my corner so that they will not say am overdoing it
Please overdo it if the Spirit demands it!
Imagine if Apostle Paul was saying people will call him “brother overdo” and decided to thread with caution so that everybody will be happy.
That’s how that purpose consumed man would have died never allowing God to use him.
The confidence with which he spoke in 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
Amazes me, this is a treatise coming from a man who knew he walked and finished His God given assignment
And that’s our sincere cry to God, not to be an unprofitable servant!
Consequently, we have to understand that some people will be Paul, brutal and all while some will be Peter it is God that gives increase.
Hence the emphasis on people finding out what is captured in their scrolls for them
So, we are invited to walk confidently in our God-given purpose while remaining fully surrendered to His will.
“Do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.” — Hebrews 10:35
“Your calling is not just a ministry title or church role.
It’s the specific assignment God has given you, whether in preaching, teaching, business, parenting, arts, or leadership, name it!
So, we walk in it boldly without becoming arrogant or forsaking your mercy
Understanding What Your Calling Is, Walking in your calling with boldness and humility
Walking in your calling with boldness and humility.
Before you can walk in your calling, you must first know what it is.
Captured in the calling is not just what you do but also who you’re becoming and how you glorify God through your life.
I’ve realized that sometimes there is nothing that confuses believers like the term “purpose”
I know because I was confused for long, reading all manner of books to gain direction
And here is the challenge with that, how can someone who doesn’t have a clear relationship with God know God’s purpose
And so, the more we read those books or listen to that motivational speech we became more confused sinking deeper into self
Not because the speech or the book is bad but because we were on a wild goose chase for something that we don’t even have a relationship with its source
Even if some of those books and speeches were birthed from the place of true fellowship with God
yet, we still need to know God captured in the pages of those books otherwise something good might end up pointing us to “self” instead of to God.
Because the people reading it are still in “self” ..God abegg help us.
I also heard people say “what you love doing is tied to your purpose” there is nothing as dangerous as half-truth, it kills. That’s how rugged evangelist ended up singing because they loved singing
Or even kingdom technocrats ended up on the pulpit because people said ministry will fit them😥
That’s how, maybe some would have been a runway models in some exquisite magazine because it is what they loved. Or maybe even a poet and hymn writer like Fanny Crosby.
Sometimes, I wonder if Fanny had delved into something else which she would have probably done well in, where would her deep Spirit birthed songs like “I am thine oh Lord, Blessed Assurance, Jesus keep me near the cross” that makes you feel the heavy hands of the Spirit on your soul come from?
Maybe, God would have used another person who knows.
If it is purpose it always outlives the person.
Understanding What Your Calling Is, Walking in your calling with boldness and humility

Having a passion is good but God’s purpose is beyond passion. Sometimes like Jonah, we don’t like it, it doesn’t even look appealing
And even when it does look appealing, neck deep into it, the cry on our lips will be help me Lord for I sinketh, because we’ve seen it is much bigger than we ever imagined.
“We are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works…” — Ephesians 2:10
Every believer has a role in God’s Kingdom.
Whether you’re called to teach children, lead worship, run a Christian business, write books, or counsel the broken, your calling is divine.
Callings are always traced to a source; ‘the caller” that’s the guarantee that it will fulfill purpose and it will outlive us.
So, the question is, who called you?
Walking in Boldness: Courage to Step Out
Sometimes as believers, we delay walking in our purpose because of fear, doubt, or the opinions of others.
But God never calls us to something and then abandons us. Boldness isn’t arrogance—it’s confidence in Christ.
That’s why the scripture in Proverbs 28:1 says, “The righteous are as bold as a lion.” and in Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid”
Walking in your calling with boldness and humility sometimes means saying “yes” to God’s promptings, even when it’s uncomfortable or even starting the vision God gave you, even if no one claps.
Boldness is obedience. It’s trusting that God who called you will equip and defend you. “Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it…” — Philippians 1:6
However, we need to also understand as believers that remaining humble is first of all a posture of the heart
If it’s not in the heart, it’s not there! With time the motions will betray the heart content.
And sometimes we can’t help it, in the previous season we were humble, but God has in His mercies moved us to another season, so we might need a fresh working of humility in our heart…Help us Jesus🙏
We might not be getting it correct in everything but the sincere cry in our heart is, God help my heart, help it! and if God truly in His mercy helps us, we won’t be fake, it will stand the test of time and God can trust us with more
Not because we have what it takes of our own self but because our sufficiency is of Him.
The Balance of Boldness and Humility; Walking in Your Calling with Boldness and Humility
While boldness is about taking ground, humility is about staying grounded.
It’s easy to start well and end up walking in pride when the results begin to show.
So we can’t stop asking God for help, never, even with my last breath I won’t.
True humility is not thinking less of yourself—it’s thinking of yourself less and keeping Jesus at the center always
“He must increase, but I must decrease.” — John 3:30
Sometimes, this is what helps us to stay teachable and open to correction irrespective of what we think we have
God honors humility. So as we rise in our calling, let’s make sure our posture is always bowed low.
Both qualities are vital. Boldness without humility leads to pride.
Humility without boldness leads to stagnation.
Jesus is our perfect example, bold in declaring the Kingdom, yet humble enough to wash feet.
It’s not over if we go back to God to sincerely help us. It becomes over when we don’t have authority and God to rebuke us into alignment.
A believer without such is like a loose cannon who will harm people even with all their good intentions.
So, we lead with confidence, but serve with compassion
We pursue excellence, but remain dependent on grace, and we share our wins, but always point to the cross
Challenges in Walking Your Calling
Fear of Inadequacy
Walking in our calling with boldness and humility sometimes do have its challenges
You know that feeling of being unqualified. That’s ok. But don’t stay there!
Do we really have an excuse? but even if we do, there is always a witness pointing to the fact that it was not only possible but attainable.
So for the believer, those clouds of witnesses help us to keep pressing even when scorched by the sun.
Not because we are strong of ourselves, but we hear them cheering to us in the clouds knowing that their labour isn’t complete without ours.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” — 2 Corinthians 12:9
People-Pleasing
No man can ever completely work in God’s purpose and please everyone.
Paul, speaking in the book of Galatians 1:10 says “If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
People-pleasing is the tendency to prioritize others’ needs, wants, or expectations over our own which is not bad but the problem with people pleasing is the motive not even the action
And so often times, we do that not because God demands it, or because the Spirit impresses it but out of fear of rejection, conflict, or disapproval.
Challenges in Walking Your Calling; Walking in Your Calling with Boldness and Humility

Waiting for the “Right Time”
Many times, we delay obedience. But God often moves as you move.
One of the greatest things God needs to teach us is to move as soon as He says it
Have you ever wondered why, when we fail or delay to do what God says. We suddenly look and see someone doing that exact same thing God put in our heart.
God will never be stranded or lose; it might take a little while or no time at all. He will raise another man!!
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart… in all your ways acknowledge Him.” — Proverbs 3:5–6
The Bible anchors your identity and keeps your heart aligned.
Therefore, let every bold step we make be by the leading of the spirit.
Learn from those who walked their callings faithfully and surround yourself with people who will call out both your pride and your potential.
Don’t rely on your personality; rely on grace.
Conclusion: Step Forward in Grace
Walking in your calling with boldness and humility.
God didn’t save us so that we can sit idle
So, our calling is sacred, and the way we walk in it matters deeply to God.
Be bold, not boastful. Be humble, not hesitant.
Let your life preach louder than your lips. Walk with courage and character.
And when the world sees you, let them see Christ at work through you.
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” — Matthew 5:16 (NKJV)
