Christianity has been the foundation of countless lives,
Despite its far-reaching impact, many people—whether they’re exploring faith for
the first time or have been in it for years—have questions.
When we say foundation we mean both a construction of God and what captures the believer’s journey with God.
True, the believers were first called Christians in Antioch, but then even the fathers of old operated it.
Or what do we call what men like Abraham, Noah, Enoch, David and some of these patriarchs did.
It will behove us to know then that the basis, foundation, and ultimate of Christianity is Christ.
1st Corinthians 3:11 “ For other foundation can no man lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ”.
FAQs About Christianity
In this blog, we’ll address some of the common inquiries about Christianity with thoughtful,
biblically grounded answers to help us on our journey of understanding.
What is Christianity?
John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
Christianity is not a set of rules and to be followed as some think
Are there doctrines, way and manner of life in it, Yes
In fact, there are some teachings like the Didascalia of doctrine that are not written down.
They are organic, and the more you walk with God the more you become more sensitive to these unspoken rhythms.
For example, you might not see where the Bible expressly spelt out maybe the colour of hair to make or style to barb as a believer.
But because Christianity is a life, and if it’s a life, one of the attributes of life is growth.
And if we truly are growing, we come to a point where some things are no longer allowed
Not because they are bad but because our path on our spiritual progress has become narrower.
So even in unspoken things we can pick the Spirits rhythm and follow suit.
Christianity is founded on our relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ. In it’s very core is the doctrine of incarnation.
Ephesians 2:20-22 “Having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets,
with Christ Jesus Himself as the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole structure is joined together,
and it continues [to increase] growing into a holy temple in the Lord.”
In Christianity, it is only faith in Jesus Christ that reconciles us with God.
What is the Bible?
2 Timothy 3:16-17 “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training….
It is considered the inspired Word of God, written by human authors under divine guidance.
Like my Father Apostle Edu would say, the inerrancy of the scripture is that all scripture not some
Whether it feels good in our ears or not are all God-breathed.
That’s why no man who ever made light of God’s words made it far.
Many died, others were maimed, all sorts of things just to get the Bible across. So when we despise it.
It’s like a direct affront to the Spirit of Grace and God’s eternal plans captured in His words.
It is and remains the believer’s compass, lighting and illuminating their paths.
Psalm 119:105 “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And a light unto my path”.
Why do bad things happen if God is Good?
Christianity is not a journey that has its paths littered with scently petals and roses.
Somehow, like the Galatian church we’ve been bewitched that once we give our
life to Christ all our troubles, worries, challenges, problems vanishes into thin air🤔
Does God have the power to make them vanish, yes!! Will He make them all go away,
that’s left to His sovereignty and many interplay.
That’s why, it is important for a believer to be under an accurate teaching ministry.
So that we will know that being born again doesn’t mean God will whisk a magical wand and make all my problems go away.
Let’s even assume that we create a cocoon for ourself where maybe bad things can’t get to us.
We live in a broken world, even creation is crying for redemption.
Romans 8:22 “For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.”
However, this question is one of the most challenging questions for Christians and non-Christians alike.
Good or bad, God is good and will forever be. That bad things happen maybe to believers
Can never bring God’s goodness under question. Irrespective of how we feel, God remains good.
My father Apostle Edu would say “God is good, good is not God”
Meaning that God is the basis, bandwidth and complete embodiment of what good is.
Consequently, no man is good if he does not have God.
The more your God quotient the more you can do good, otherwise it is simply the good old man
And God despises it, it’s verdict is death by the cross.
Why do bad things happen if God is Good?
Furthermore, there a lot of things God considers in the interplay of the way things play out.
Sometimes, am awed and speechless at the way God effortlessly keeps the whole earth in balance
And then the things in heaven as well, it baffles me alot.
So when we say bad things what do we mean by bad things?
Or is it a wrong thing for a believer to suffer for his beliefs?, even the pagans do so.
Christianity that came to us did it come on a platter of gold.?
Jesus went through things unimaginable, including that momentary separation from His father.
As He hung on the cross, and yet still battling in the land of the dead so that man will be redeemed.
And we expect all to be rosy. A true disciple must have to go through what His master went through at least to a measure.
If good things happen glory to God, but incase bad things happen as well, we are not despondent.
There is a way the gospel was handed to us!!
2 Corinthians 4:17 “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory”
Can anyone become a Christian?
Yes! Christianity is inclusive and open to all who seek God.
The Bible declares that salvation is available to everyone,
regardless of background, past mistakes, or current struggles.
Jesus Himself said in John 6:37, “All those the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.”
Becoming a Christian involves recognizing your utmost need for God,
believing in Jesus as your Savior, and committing your life to follow Him.
It’s an intentional decision, it’s a journey, it’s a becoming and it is God’s desire.
That’s why, when we make that decision God expects that we don’t look back for we are not of them that draw back.
What is the Church?
The Church is not necessarily a building, the Church or the Body of Christ is a conclave of the called out ones.
The mystical organ through which God intends to actualise His purposes both in time and eternity.
Meaning it is a spiritual entity that expresses itself in the natural like our local assembly.
Every believer must be part of a local assembly of believers.
Hebrews 10:25 “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is;
There is a purpose in the heart of Christ for investing in His Body,
If so be it then that it is the Church/Body of Christ it means that no one man can lay claim to the church as his
Christ only calls men into labour with Him not as owners but as co-labourers.
Lastly, The Church also serves as a beacon of hope to the world, demonstrating God’s love through acts of service and evangelism.
What happens after death?
1 Corinthians 15:19 “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.”
For me as a believer, the above scripture gives me heavy assurance that the hope I hoped doesn’t end here.
Christianity teaches that life does not end at death and it certainly does not.
Otherwise what would be the fate and hope of many fathers, women and people of faith.
Do believers die, yes!, this body which is our earthly tabernacle will grow weary one day and just like the scriptures says
We will sleep, the scripture sees the cessation of heart beat for the believer as “Sleep”
1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 “But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.”
For the believer, there is a location where he sleeps, in Jesus.
Those who have faith in Jesus will experience eternal life in Heaven,
That’s why, we are not like men without hope,
Whether in this world or in eternity, we will still hear heaven say
Well done!! Thou good and faithful servant enter into the joy of your Lord.
What happens after death?
If Jesus is the Resurrection and the Life, let every true believer be rest assured that
At the sound of the trumpet he will be resurrected unto Life eternal.
So he that had this hope in him purifieth himself even as he is pure
Knowing that for the true believer it doesn’t just end here
Death is just the ladder that ushers one into that higher life in eternity with God.
Philippians 1:21 states “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”
We will rule with Christ, that’s why this earth is an opportunity for the believer
To decide the Morphy he will take in eternity; a ruler, judge, lord, servant, baby…
Faith is a journey, and God promises to walk alongside us every step of the way.
Conclusion
Christianity is a faith built on love, grace, and hope.
While questions are natural and even encouraged, the heart of Christianity lies in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
No matter where you are in your spiritual journey, know that God invites you to seek Him more,
promising in Jeremiah 29:13 “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.”
May these answers provide clarity, inspire faith, and draw you closer to the One who loves you unconditionally.
If you have more questions, don’t hesitate to explore the Bible, seek out a local church, or connect with other believers.
