Living with eternal perspective. Many things happening on earth screams for our attention and competes for our affection.
And the call to live with an eternal perspective is increasingly difficult — yet it is absolutely essential.
Oftentimes, even as believers we’re tempted to live for the now.
At the very back of our minds is the desire to throw caution to the wind “and just live for the moment”
There is nothing inherently wrong with rest or even comfort.
Like really, these things in itself are not bad per say.
But here’s the challenge! Sometimes as believers overtime it becomes hard for us to draw the line eventually.
The line between wealth and love of money, comfort and laziness, success and pride………
Really we are in God’s hands ooo because sometimes we can’t stop these good things from abounding.
We can only prepare ourselves to be ready for the avalanche.
That’s why the scripture reminds us that this world is not our home.
It reminds us because there is a tendency to forget even when we didn’t intend to.
It’s a constant reminder that we are pilgrims, and a pilgrim is always in search of a permanent city.
“For this world is not our permanent home; we are looking forward to a home yet to come.”— Hebrews 13:14
Why Eternal Perspective Matters; Living with Eternal Perspective

Living with eternal perspective. One of the Bible’s most sobering truths is how fleeting life is.
No matter how much we want to hold on to it, it was designed in such a way as not to be held with a vice grip.
When we understand how temporary our time on earth is, we begin to see the foolishness of living only for the moment.
And the truth is that sometimes even as believers we are oblivious of the fact that we are living for the moment😔
It’s really scary! Sometimes that makes me pensive.
That’s why, an eternal mindset invites us to live each day with purpose, urgency, and surrender.
So how do we, as believers, navigate life on earth with eyes fixed on heaven?
How do we build businesses, raise families, serve in ministry, and endure trials — all the while keeping our hearts set on eternity?
This is a very important question, and each time we are not able to answer it.
We might not really be able to navigate without losing focus.
One thing we are sure is that, some believers were able to live with eternity in perspective
If they did, then we can too!!
Because We Were Created for Eternity
God didn’t create us just for 70 or 80 years — He designed us for forever.
“He has also set eternity in the human heart…”— Ecclesiastes 3:11
There’s a deep longing within every soul that the world cannot fill.
It’s a hunger that reminds us we’re made for more.
That’s why, when we ignore it, we settle for temporary substitutes that leave us dry, drained and distracted.
So we set our minds on things above, not because we don’t have an option.
But because we choose rather to lose that we might gain Christ.
Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:19 says “If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.
It is worthy to note that Jesus, fully God and fully man, walked the earth with heaven in His heart.
Each day, He lived aware of His Father’s will and eternity’s value.
He was not moved by public opinion, wealth, or ease. He was driven by the eternal joy set before Him.
The Dangers of a Temporal Mindset; Living with Eternal Perspective

As much as we might have a lot going on for us know which is God’s mind and is a good place to be.
However, living for the now as believers can be quite spooky.
Yes it may feel comfortable or natural, but sometimes we can’t help being blinded to eternal truth.
leaving us vulnerable to spiritual drift without us even being aware.
Seeming as if it is possible for our focus to shift from God’s eternal word to the immediate gratification of the moment.
“When the woman saw that the fruit… was desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it.” — Genesis 3:6
All that was needed to shift the focus was to present something seeming!!
Looking shiny and all. That look was enough to dull discernment and shift one from their inheritance. God abegggg oooo 🙏
Sin I’ve realised is often the result of short-term thinking.
Consequently, when we have a temporal mindset, it undermines endurance in trials
No man like the scripture says who warreth entangleth himself with civilian affairs.
The moment we do that, it is only natural that even a stray bullet will hit us.
That’s why even when scorched, parched and weary we still continue.
Peradventure, just maybe, the finish line is just few meters ahead!!
“Our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.” — Romans 8:18
Living for the Audience of One
Living with eternal perspective. We live in a world where there are many likes, applause, and fame.
And so, there is the temptation to completely live for others’ approval.
But eternity reminds us we will each stand before one Judge.
“So we make it our goal to please him…
For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.” — 2 Corinthians 5:9–10
Let this truth anchor our choices. Live for the “Well done” of heaven!!
We are stewards, not owners. Live free from the grip of materialism.
Let’s invest in what will outlast us.
These things are eternal: God, His Word, His purposes and men.
When we invest in these, we sow into what will never fade.
It is worthy of note also that eternal perspective doesn’t detach us from reality — it empowers us to live wisely in it.
It helps fuel us for purposeful living.
When we know our life echoes in eternity, every act becomes sacred — from changing diapers to preaching sermons.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord.” — Colossians 3:23
That’s why we need to saturate our mind with the Word of God because that’s what continually reorients us to what matters most.
It reminds us of eternity, warns us of temporal traps, and strengthens our hope.
Living for the Audience of One

Let Scripture reset our focus every day.
We cannot also forget the non- negotiable part of prayer.
Prayer aligns our hearts with God’s purposes.
When we pray, “Your kingdom come,” we’re declaring our desire to live for God’s eternal reign.
It redefines success for us.
Success for us becomes more about obedience, faithfulness and fruitfulness.
Without controversy, Jesus is coming again.
And when He does, everything will be laid bare. Are we ready?
When eternity is real to us, we live ready — not in fear, but in hope.
We only live once, in a brief window of time, for a glorious purpose.
As much as comfort is good let’s not cling much to it when we’re called to the cross.
“Only one life, ’twill soon be past, only what’s done for Christ will last.” — C.T. Studd
Conclusion: Eternity Is Closer Than You Think
Living with eternal perspective is about being so heavenly minded that we’re finally of true earthly good.
It means raising our children as kingdom warriors. Working our job as a mission field.
Enduring trials as tests with eternal rewards. Giving, praying, serving — with the long view in mind.
One day, we’ll stand before the King. And what a day that will be.
“Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day…” — 2 Timothy 4:8
Live for that day.
Let eternity shape us today.
May the Lord teach us to number our days and live with eternity in view. Fixing our eyes on Jesus, our eternal hope. Amen!!
