David was one of the few of them; a mighty man whose life spoke much more than 10 times of a million worth.
Well, do you remember the sure mercies of David?
Infact, how could a man on earth make such a mighty pact with God?
When God sought for a man to play a major role in His eternal agenda, he was not left out.
To comprehend the magnitude of this truth is no little thing; since David had lived his life before Jesus came.
The Dissections
The history of David is a very cognizant one.
Chiefly, the proof of these was revealed starting from the moment he
went to visit his brothers in the battle against the Philistines.
Though he was the youngest among his siblings, yet he was the one chosen by God.
1 Samuel 16:7 “But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance,
or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth;
for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart”
And so it behooved God to look away from the normal glistening physical
benefits of his brothers, into the heart of his lowly and faithful servant.
For David was such a man who captured the heart of God.
If you are to check it, humanly speaking, David was to be placed nowhere by man.
Eventually, before God, he was the one approved and chosen by God.
Note that it was this heart that God found pleasure in.
David; The Man Of Faith
The Patriarchs are recognized by their great faith in God.
Identically, this tremendous faith was beyond the normal.
It then became so clear that there was something real but invisible that backed up their beliefs.
Consequently, they were moved to doing things that ordinary men would
never do, a sure proof of what they believed in.
That’s why, the book of Heb.11:34 captured this for us
“Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong,
waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens”
From the above scripture one would see that these people really had nothing to gain in the natural so to say.
If so be it, then it would mean that there was something they knew that
the normal natural man was oblivious about.
Likewise, we cannot also overlook the fact that David had a wonderful walk with God
Infact, who goes to a raging deadly brutal war with five stones, that’s incredible.
David the Man of Faith
Most times, when we tell the story of David and Goliath of Gath, it seems like an easy feat
Maybe because it has been reduced to a casual Sunday school story.
But sometimes am awed at what made a young man face a giant with years of experience
With just five stones, he didn’t have any natural help. Israel was hiding in fear.
It would mean then that being in the wilderness shepherding taught David’s hand how to war.
Brought to him a better knowledge of knowing God and His ways.
This great faith which this Patriarch possessed was a sure proof of walk with God.
His life too, his peculiar characters, his unbeatable strength in warfares,
His brokenness and meekness was all traceable to his walk with God.
He so believed in God and obeyed God with a willing heart.
The Man After God’s Heart
One paramount and genuine characteristic about David was His fear for God; for David feared the Lord.
Indeed, he was a broken and a contrite man;
one who trembled before God and His every word.
Truly, very few believers today possess such characteristics. God will help us
Nevertheless, it remains God’s marking instrument for the men He will use; the heart
David though a king, didn’t count himself as high whenever he appeared before God.
Thus, he would always approach God like a child.
He was clothed with such great meekness and humility;
We are speaking about the king of a nation.
Hence, it was such largeness of heart towards God that gravitated the covenant of the sure mercies to his life.
And so, it became impossible that the Saviour,
Christ Jesus wouldn’t come into the world without routing through his lineage.
Profoundly, David was endowed with honor and glory; he found great favor before God.
Ps.89:3 “I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant”
Indeed, David had pleased God.
This is where the big difference is.
Conclusion
The scriptures give us a clear proof of David and His life.
Hence, it is of necessity that anyone in ardent pursuit of God stumbles upon similar experiences too.
The call to walk with God is an eternal call;
being that we were created by Him to fellowship with Him.
And if it’s a call, necessity is placed on us to answer.
